Hi, I’m Garry — a landscape and nature photographer based in Lincolnshire. I bought my first “proper” camera, a Canon M50, during the Covid lockdowns, mostly as a way to clear my head and escape into the countryside. I didn’t expect it to become the thing that grounds me, motivates me, and gets me out of the house long before sunrise, but that’s exactly what happened. What began as a distraction slowly became a part of who I am.
Lincolnshire is my home and the heart of everything I photograph. People sometimes overlook this county or write it off as flat and uneventful, but the truth is that its beauty is quieter, gentler, and more subtle than most places. It rewards patience. Over the years I’ve come to love the things you only notice when you slow down: the long winding lanes through the Wolds, a lone tree standing stubbornly against a winter sky, the soft mist rolling across the fields at dawn, or the sun breaking through heavy clouds above the Humber. These small, fleeting moments are what keep pulling me back out with the camera.
I’m completely self-taught and still learning every single day. My style leans towards the calm and the natural — nothing too flashy, overly saturated, or heavily processed. I prefer to let the landscape speak for itself. Most of my editing is done in Lightroom, with Photoshop used sparingly to tidy up distractions, straighten a horizon, or remove the odd signpost. The real magic, for me, comes from waiting: waiting for the light to shift, for the colours to settle, or for the scene to feel just right.
Photography has helped me deal with anxiety, stay present, and reconnect with the world around me. It gives me purpose on days when I need it, and clarity on days when everything feels a bit much. If one of my images gives you even a small sense of the peace, focus, or quiet joy I feel when I’m out exploring Lincolnshire, then I’m genuinely happy.
Thanks for visiting,
Garry
